5 Healthy New Year’s Resolutions to Kickstart Your Year

It's that time of year again! The time when everyone is making resolutions for the New Year. If you're like most people, you probably want to start the New Year off on the right foot by resolving to make healthier choices. But with so many different healthy habits to choose from, where do you even begin? In this blog post, we will discuss 5 healthy New Year's resolutions that will help you get started on the right track. Let's go!

1) Exercise More Often

If you want to lead a healthier lifestyle, then it's time to get moving! Exercising more often is a great way to keep your body and mind in shape - especially after indulging in Christmas and New Year's treats.   Make sure to set realistic goals that you can stick to by scheduling a few days each week for some physical activity. Whether it's a brisk walk or an intense gym session, any form of exercise is beneficial for your overall health.

2) Eat More Nutritious Foods

It's also time to start paying more attention to what you're eating. By eating a balanced diet, your body will be better able to fight off illnesses, maintain an optimal weight, and have more energy throughout the day.   You’ll want to include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet as well as whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. It’s also a good idea to cut down on or avoid some things too, like sugary beverages and processed foods. As delicious as they are, these foods tend to be high in calories and low in nutrition.

3) Drink More Water

Water is essential for our bodies, so make sure to stay hydrated. Not only will it help with digestion, but it can also have a positive effect on your mood and energy levels.    The general recommendation is 8 glasses of water per day, but you may need to adjust that amount depending on your activity level and body size. And to help keep yourself on track, be sure to have a reusable water bottle with you throughout the day and take sips regularly.

4) Get More Sleep

Sleep is crucial for your physical and mental health, and so it's important to make sure that you're getting enough rest each night. Aim for 7 to 8 hours of quality sleep, and try to keep a consistent sleep schedule even on the weekends.   You can also make your bedroom more conducive to better sleep by keeping it dark, quiet and cool. If you're struggling to fall asleep, some relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation can help.

5) Reduce Stress Levels

Stress can take a toll on your mental and physical health, so it's important to find ways to reduce it. Regular exercise can help with stress relief, as can activities like yoga or meditation.    But it's also important to take breaks from work or other tasks that are causing you stress and make time to do something that you enjoy. Whether it's reading a book, going for a walk or spending time with friends, taking some time out of your day for yourself can do wonders for your stress levels.

The Bottom Line

These are just a few of the healthy New Year's resolutions you may want to consider this year. It can be overwhelming to think about all the changes you want to make in order to lead a healthier lifestyle, but just start small and work your way up.
