Iced tea is practically made for summer! There's nothing quite as refreshing as a delicious glass of the stuff as you're relaxing in the hot summer sun. If you've just been buying the store-bought varieties, though, you've been missing out - homemade iced teas can be even better! In this blog post, we're going to give you the recipes for 3 refreshing iced teas for hot summer days. Iced tea-lovers, get ready to find your new favourite drink!
1) Strawberry Iced Tea
Recipe adapted from Let the Baking Begin here. This refreshing drink combines the sweetness of strawberries with the tartness of lemon or lime, and it's perfect for summer days!Step 1: Gather Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 4 tea bags (Earl Gray or black tea)
- 2.5 cups sliced strawberries
- 1 lemon or lime
- Sugar to taste
Step 2: Steep the Tea Bags
Boil 2 cups of water and pour it into a container. Steep the tea bags in there for as long as you'd like. Remember the longer they're in there, the stronger the tea will be!Step 3: Add in Other Ingredients
After removing the tea bags, toss in your strawberries, lemon or lime juice, and sugar to taste. Then, mash up the strawberries to help release the juice.Step 4: Pour into Pitcher and Serve
When the mixture tastes just right, pour it into a pitcher with ice and serve.2) Peach Iced Tea
Recipe adapted from Minimalist Baker here. This iced tea is perfect for peachy summer days (pun intended)!Step 1: Gather Ingredients
- 1 cup cane sugar
- 9 cups water
- 2 thinly-sliced ripe peaches
- 3-4 black tea bags (or 2-3 tablespoons of loose tea)
Step 2: Make Simple Syrup
In a saucepan, bring the sugar, 1 cup of water, and peaches to a boil. Then, lower the heat and crush the peaches to release the juices. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from heat, cover, and let sit for about 30 minutes.Step 3: Brew and Steep the Tea
Brew using your favourite method of choice. Try not to let the bags steep for longer than 5 minutes though, as the tea can get bitter. When it's done, put it in the fridge to cool.Step 4: Strain Out Peaches
After the simple syrup has finished, strain out the peaches.Step 5: Combine Simple Syrup and Tea and Enjoy
Mix it all together in a pitcher with ice, and serve.3) Easy Iced Tea
Recipe adapted from Natasha's Kitchen here. There's nothing like a classic! Serve sweetened or unsweetened depending on your preference.Step 1: Gather Ingredients
- 8 cups water
- 6 black tea bags
- Sugar to taste
